1. Backkom [ ep.1 Sky Diving]
Backkom is a series of animated shorts centered on the fictional polar bear, whose name is often known as “Bernard,” as well as “Backkom” — meaning a polar bear in Korean. Produced by the Korean Company RG Animation Studios, the curious polar bear Backkom has grown to be a much beloved character by wide range of audiences from all over the world. Having targeted at children of age five to seven, each episode is about three minutes long, having many moments of slapstick. The animation style is of a combination of computer-generated and cel animation.
Backkom is a curious polar bear who alone lives in the North Pole. One day, Backkom decides to go on an adventure on a piece of ice berg floating away. By constantly getting himself into comical situations and funny incidents, Backkom continues to entertain the audience of all ages.
In this episode, Backkom, the lover of extreme sports, challenges himself in skydiving, yet again, he finds himself in trouble never anticipated.
Backkom, also known as “Bernard,” has been nominated for a number of awards, including Best Animation series at the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (’06), Mipcom Jr. Licensing Challenge Award (’04), Prize in Children and Education at the Dong-A International Festival of Cartoon & Animation ()04) and was a finalist at the Annecy International Animation Festival (’03).
