Seoul Survival Guide is here to let you in on the ‘R.E.A.L.“ Korean language tips and culture. If you can remember these words, your traveling experience in Korea will be a lot more fun!
[Korean Restaurant Culture] – If the lid on your seat comes off, you may be able to store your belongings and overcoat inside!– Most of Korean restaurants expect their customers to self-serve side dishes and/or water. If you see “물, 반찬 셀프” on a wall, don’t be shy! Get your own water and side dishes.
– A lot of Korean dishes are served with many side dishes, and they are bottomless! Some traditional Korean restaurants have even more number of side dishes that are served along with the main dish. So worry not and know that what you are getting are just side dishes!
– If you don’t see spoon and chopsticks on the table, try looking for sliding cabinet on the side of the table you are seated at. A lot of Korean restaurants store spoons and chopsticks and even napkins in a sliding cabinet on the side of the table. And enjoy the food!
