The basis for these comedies is the constant Jekyll-&-Hyde switching of 2-Eye’s personalities. He’s good when he needs to be bad, and horrible when he needs to be behaved. 2-Eyes is forever trying to stay balanced, but the wacky story elements always send him off kilter. Like Popeye, 2-Eyes often starts off calm and civilized, but when he is pushed too far, he reverts to his “tough, strong” persona to put things right.
